Ecosystem of Support

Since the founding of the Vickey Meadow Youth Development Foundation, we have formed many partnerships with various organizations. We are immensely grateful for their unwavering support and collaboration. They have stood alongside us, exemplifying the true spirit of unity and steadfastness. Together, we work tirelessly to bring about positive change in our community. Their dedication, compassion, and shared vision have amplified our impact and fortified the bonds that make our community special. As we celebrate these cherished community partners, we are reminded that it is through collective effort that we can create a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

DISD

Since 2007, we have partnered with our local schools (Jack Lowe Elementary, Jill Stone Elementary, McShan Elementary, Hotchkiss Elementary, Tasby Middle School, and Conrad High School). In partnership with them, we have done book drives, supported the valedictorian and salutatorian with laptops, been a part of their Site-Based Decision Making Teams, and utilized space in their facilities.

Big Thought

For the last eight years, we have partnered with Big Thought through their City of Learning (DCoL) programming. As part of this collaborative partnership, we have worked in educational design areas and have benefitted from various field trips and other programmatic opportunities offered for our Scholars. As of 2023 we remain a DCoL community partner and in 2021, we received the Big Thought City of Learning Superintendent's Award for our innovative programming during the pandemic.

UTD Center for Children and Families

In 2012, we began a partnership with UTD's Center for Children and Families' Play with Me (Juega Conmigo) program. Play with Me is a 12-week outreach program for children 0 to 3 years old and their parents or caregiver. It is a relationship-centered playful learning program designed to promote strong parent-child relationships and children’s socio-emotional, physical, language and cognitive development. It gives parents the tools to help strengthen the foundation for children’s learning and healthy development, promoting school readiness and subsequent academic success.

Concilio

For years, we have partnered with the Concilio to offer their 9-week PASE (Parents Advocating for Student Excellence) program. This program equips families with the knowledge and tools to achieve academic success and ultimately help their children go on to college or other higher education. Parents learn about the public-school system, communicating with teachers and counselors and promoting learning  at home. The programs offers three different courses for parents at the elementary, middle or high school levels.

SWA Architects

Anthem Strong Families

After Jorge Rodriguez Santana, an EAGLE Scholar alumni, graduated from Texas A & M with a Landscape Engineering degree, he wanted to give back to the community where he grew up. Jorge connected SWA to the EAGLE Scholars program and they began offering Landscape Architecture workshops via Zoom during the pandemic. Once everyone was back in person, SWA has continued working with our Scholars, creating a real-life career experience as they taught Scholars to design out the garden plot beside VMYDF's Success Center. Once funding is acquired in the months ahead, SWA (alongside Scholars) will help with building out the Scholars' design.

We partner with Anthem Strong Families to offer a variety of programs in both English and Spanish for both women, couples, dads and teens. Their Champion Family program is an energized 12-weeks of classes for parents that focuses on how to create better spousal relationships, understand yourself and express your frustrations constructively, problem solve more successfully and receive helpful parenting tips. Teen programs offer 4 weeks of lively interactive classes filled with leadership skills, expressing yourself and steps to create the successful life that you want.

Family Compass

Conducts a 7-week PPP (Positive Parenting Program) for our Mom's Groups, supports our families with backpacks and school supplies in the fall, provides families with toys and gifts at Christmas, and assists us with gift cards to provide graduates of the program to assist with childcare so that moms can be fully present during classes.

More Partnerships

  • Through their Credera Community Impact initiative, Credera provides volunteers for our Mock Interviews, College Signing Day, and other large events. Additionally, VMYDF was chosen as one of of Credera's Nonprofit Consulting Leadership Program pro bono initiatives. With Credera's help, we were able to re-design our website and begin to think strategically about fundraising strategies.

  • VMYDF was chosen to be Ibex's primary beneficiary in 2023. Their young men's business organization provides volunteers at many of our large events, as well as provides weekly volunteers for our EAGLE Scholars Thursday Night Meet Ups. They host an annual golf tournament in the spring and a gala in the fall, with all proceeds benefiting VMYDF.
